The Municipality of West Mani located on the western side of the mountain of Taygetos, which leads to the cape Tainaro. The economy of the new municipality is mainly based on agriculture with major crops of olives. It also builds in animal husbandry, in construction and in large part on tourism, because of the existence of hotel units in the coastal – mainly – zone.

Kardamili is a spectacular seaside village, a stunning region in the southern Peloponnese, characterized by travel connoisseurs as the New Cote d'Azur. Set dramatically against a backdrop of crystalline aqua-blue waters, majestic cypress trees, wild olive groves, verdant rolling hills and distant snowcapped mountains, it is one of the prettiest of villages that overlook the calm seas and splendid sunsets of the Messinian Gulf.

It remains one of the south Mediterranean's best-kept secrets: an exclusive, small, unspoilt resort that boasts stately villas, enchanting stone maisonettes, lush gardens, a picturesque harbor and fantastic beaches. The village caters to many tastes.

Avia, 12 km east of Kalamata, is a summer destination for Greek and foreign visitors alike. The interchanging natural environment and the mild climate guarantee relaxation throughout the year. From spring, when the vegetation impresses with its colors and smells, till late autumn, when the fruits of the olive trees invite people to harvest them, the region is ideal for excursions to the villages of Mani, with their unique architecture, and for relaxing at the clean beaches.

Hiking in the canyons and trails of Mount Taygetus, horse riding, biking along the coast or mountain biking, climbing, water sports, sailing, scuba diving, beach volley on the sandy beaches and even paragliding are some of the activities offered in the surrounding area, providing unique moments of action and pleasure.
